  • Resistance 2

Resistance 2 is a game all about numbers. In this quirky but enjoyable PlayStation 3 shooter, you'll take on a 300 foot-tall Leviathan in the single-player campaign, blast countless hordes in the eight-player cooperative mode, and shoot it out with 60 players in online competitive matches. These three modes -- campaign, cooperative, and competitive -- embody the entirety of the Resistance 2 experience, and to see the big picture you'll have to play them all.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Bigger, badder and better than the first, Resistance 2 improves upon the formula set by its predecessor in almost every way. Unfortunately, a handful of minor issues, such as less than stellar graphics, keep this game from reaching the high bar set by competing titles like Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War 2. Still, with its interesting single-player campaign and robust online component, Resistance 2 has plenty to offer any PS3 owner looking for a quick and easy shooter fix.

Resistance 2 - PS3

Pros Cons
Intense action Poor storytelling
Titans, Leviathan and Chameleons , oh my

The low down:
The game is fun to play and I am not really a fan of fps (first person shooter), but I have to make an exception to this one. If this game had lean around corners from a covered position, it would have been perfect. Did I say this was a fun game?

The graphics were very good. The alien ships look awesome in the sky and the 300 ft. creature is truly weird looking to say the least. The Chimera, hybrids and others are some very ugly creatures. The battles can be very intense at times.

The game has a way of offering the right weapon at the right time, but in few scenarios, I am not going to say when, you get an abundance to choose from, so choose wisely and if offered a large one, it would be wise to take it. The main idea and best idea is to keep the right two weapons on hand.

If you are tactically impaired (being politically correct), you will reach your demise quite often, so stay on your toes, keep low when possible, and use the environment to your advantage.
Overall
This is a good game for single player. The campaign is highly intense, you might bite the dust a few times, but you'll get through if you are persistent. I recommend it for those looking for a fun fps to play, this is the one. So, strap on your combat boots, lock and load and get ready for some intense action. I give it a 4.5 total rating.

An absolute MUST!

There is so many things done well with this game its hard to sum up in a modestly short review. Graphics are great, story (and ending) are great, weapons and gameplay are great, online is fun and fast paced and...great. I didn't give it a 5 because there is always room for improvement, but a 4 seemed a little unjust. There is so much replay with the multiplayer that THAT alone makes it a good purchase; but the story is also incredibly entertaining and lengthy. I, obviously, have little to say about this sequel that is negative. An excellent rent, and a smart purchase. Warning: if you rent it, you'll likely be shelling out cash for those late fees. Its better just to dump it into the purchase of the game itself.
